Beverly A. Melton , 81, of Stewartville, MN, formerly of St. Charles, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Wednesday (February 11, 2026) of natural causes at her home in Stewartville.
Beverly Ann Williams was born on January 20, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to Nicholas and Helen (Klick) Williams. She moved with her family as a young girl to the Chicago superb of Des Plaines where she grew up, attended school and graduated from Maine West HS in 1963. She was employed for a number of years as a customer service manager with two regional glass manufacturing companies. Beverly was married on July 26, 1980 in Roselle, Illinois to Kirt J. Melton. Following their marriage the couple moved to Contra Costa County, California where they lived for the next 15 years. They adopted their son Zachary in 1986. Beverly worked in the oil and natural gas industry while Kirt built an accounting practice. After so many wonderful years in California the couple began talking about moving back to the Midwest to be closer to family. In 1993 while visiting Kirt’s family in Albert Lea, Minnesota they visited St. Charles, Minnesota where they
bought a house. They returned to California, settled their affairs, and returned to St. Charles where they lived for the next 30 years. Beverly started Bev’s Helping Hands house cleaning service and Kirt became employed by Mayo Clinic. They relocated to Stewartville in 2022.
Beverly and family attended services at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Winona and also in Rochester. Beverly and Kirt were avid boaters, fishers and campers and enjoyed bowling together in younger years. She enjoyed reading, doing crosswords, puzzles, canasta, gardening and flowers. She loved time with family and especially liked following Zachary’s sports and school activities.
Beverly is survived by her husband – Kirt and her son Zachary Melton (Jamie Hills) of Lehi, Utah; stepsons – Christopher Melton of Austin, Texas and Christian Arai of Chicago, Illinois; sisters-in-law – Noreen Williams of Algonquin, Illinois; Kay Williams of La Crosse, Wisconsin; brother-in-law Perry (Kathy) Peterson of Plymouth, Minnesota; a special 1st cousin – Sharon (Butch) Ahrends of Huntley, Illinois who was more like Beverly’s sister and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother – Henry, 3 brothers – Nicholas, Bruce and Robert Williams, two sister-in-law – Joanne Williams and Carole Williams and step-daughter – Maria Melton.
A funeral service for Beverly will take place on Monday (February 16 , 2026) at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1002 16th Street SE, Rochester, Minnesota. Bishop Beau Blake will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Lunch will be provided by the First Ward Relief Society following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, modest donations are encouraged to ASPCA, Wounded Warriors, or St. Jude Chidren’s Research Hospital. Interment will follow at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota.
