Allen G. Meyer

Allen George Meyer, 62, passed away at his home in Marion Township on Thursday - May 8, 2025.

Allen was born in Rochester, MN on February 15, 1963 to Lester and Fern (Lowrie) Meyer. Allen grew up in his family home located in Marion township, MN and attended Marion Church as a young boy. He attended Rochester schools and Mayo HS.  Allen worked in landscaping as a teen and later became a drywall taper with Strain Drywall in Byron,MN. He worked for various companies before becoming an independent contractor and operating Meyer Drywall. He had the power of “Divine Drywall.” He and Anna Frutiger and their 3 children – Cody, Phillip and Amber lived in  Pleasant Valley Twsp,MN for a number of years. They were later separated. Allen moved to the Meyer Family home in Marion in 2011.

Allen’s favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, doing yard work, and he loved a good road trip (as long as Tammy was driving.) He liked watching football and rooting for whoever was playing against the Packers! He had a great passion for antique firearms and knives . He had the gift of gab and would talk to anyone, anywhere, about anything, especially guns. Allen was a big teddy bear with the biggest heart he would never pass up a lemonade stand without stopping to get a glass from a kid and always paid double for it. He enjoyed time spent with friends and  loved time spent with family.

Allen is survived by his life partner of 24 years - Tammy Knutson of LeRoy,MN;  2 daughters and 2 sons - Phillip of Rochester;  Cody of Marion; Amber Meyer (Zach Gustine) of Marion and  Lucille of LeRoy,MN; Grandchildren – Ethan and Collin Meyer;  Brothers – Lester (Lorna) Meyer of Kasson,MN and Jeremy Meyer of Iowa; Sister- Beth Meyer of Rochester and  Sister-in-law -  Jackie Larkin of Ridgeway,IA; Nieces and Nephews- Luke & Brandon, Angie, Rebecca, Cyrilla and Tashina. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother - Albert Meyer, and niece-  Coletta (Meyer) Gooder.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday - May 17, 2025 at Marion Road Christian Church (4051 50thAve SE / Rochester MN 55904) with Rev. Isaac Karow officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place 1 hr. prior to the service at Marion Church on Saturday morning. A private family burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Pleasant Grove at a later date. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville.
