Betty J. Geerdes

Betty J. Geerdes, 94, of Stewartville,MN died on Tuesday (January 23,  2024) of natural causes at the Stewartville Care Center, where she had been a resident since 2022.

Betty Jane Geerdes was born on November 9, 1929 in Stewartville,MN to William and Winnie (Converse) Geerdes. She grew up on the family farm in High Forest Twsp, attended Stewartville H.S. graduating in 1947.  She was employed at  Mayo Clinic Rochester – St. Marys Campus for over 40 years most of those in the business office. She lived on the family farm with her parents, before moving to Rochester for a number of years before moving back to Stewartville after her reirement. She enjoyed collecting stamps, doing crosswords and puzzles and watching older programs on TV. Betty enjoyed visiting with friends and loved time spent with her family.

Betty is survived by her sister – Helen Gifford  of Stewartville; nephew  - Kevin Bakken of Stewartville; niece -Linda(Steven) Kath of  Puyallup,WA;  – Patricia Geerdes of  rural Stewartville; 4 grandnieces – Angela Kath,  Rebecca Kath, Nikki (Cole) Roeder and great- granddaughters - Peyten and Shea and Brittany(Charlie) Stevens and great grandson – Grady and her adopted niece – Cindy( Bob) Gardner of Rochester.  She was preceded in death by her brother – Harry and his wife Lorraine, her parents and nephews - David Geerdes and Dan Bakken.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes there will be no visitation or services. A private family burial will take place at a later date in High Forest Cemetery in High Forest,MN. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville. Condolences and memories of Betty are welcome at www.griffin-gray.com.
