Beverly J. House

Beverly J. House, 88, a longtime Stewartville,MN resident and businesswoman, died unexpectedly on Wednesday (August 20, 2025) of natural causes at her home.

Beverly Jean Dixon  was born on September 3, 1936  in Rochester,MN to Melvin and Vivian (Walker) Dixon. She grew up in Rochester where she attended school,  graduating from Rochester HS in 1954. She was employed at Stevenson’s Department Store in Rochester for a few years. Beverly was married on July 7, 1957 in Stewartville to Robert L. House. The couple live in Stewartville where they raised their children and have continued to make their home for over 68 years. Together they owned and operated the 102 year old family business, House Chevrolet with their son - Greg. Beverly was involved in many aspects of running the dealership from  accounting, to the licensing and registration of vehicles, ordering supplies and driving vehicles to and from other dealerships. Bob and Bev saw many changes in the car industry and oversaw 2 major remodeling projects of their dealership in their nearly 70 years of working side by side. House Chevrolet has helped to sponsor and support many Stewartville organizations and causes for 3 generations.

Beverly was a longtime member of the Stewartville United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Stewartville Lioness’s. Bev and Bob were charter members of RACE – the Rochester Area Corvette Enthusiasts club. Bev gave many a Stewartville parade honoree a ride in a House Chevrolet Corvette through the years. They enjoyed traveling on the many trips they earned and won with General Motors Corporation from a Mediterranean Cruise to trips to Australia, Hawaii or Europe. Beverly enjoyed  going to coffee, the occasional trip to the casino and in years past enjoyed bowling, golfing and card club. She  enjoyed visiting with customers at the dealership and with her many friends and loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Beverly is survived by her husband – Bob and 2 daughters and 1 son –Greg (Julie) House of Stewartville, Julie (Chris) Peterson of Fort Myers Beach,FL and Susan (David) Wayne of Ellendale,MN.;7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson ; brother - Dennis (Peggy) Dixon in  Stone Lake,WI and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers- Richard Dixon and Jeffrey Dixon.                                                                                                        

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday (August 26, 2025) at the Stewartville United Methodist Church with Rev. Laura Nordstrom officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 4 to 7 PM on Monday (August 25, 2025) at the Stewartville Methodist Church and 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Tuesday morning.  Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray FH in Stewartville.
