Connie L. Johnson

Connie L. Johnson, 70, of Grand Meadow,MN and a longtime Racine,MN resident,  died unexpectedly on Sunday (March 22, 2026) at her home of natural causes.

Connie Lee Hovda was born on March 28, 1955 in Rochester,MN to Oliver and Carol (Conner) Hovda. She grew up on the family farm and attended Grand Meadow schools, graduating from Grand Meadow HS in1973 where she was Homecoming Queen. She attended Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, graduating with a  Medical Secretary associate degree and was then employed at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Connie was married on September 20, 1975 at Bear Creek Lutheran Church in rural Grand Meadow to Terry A. Johnson. Following their marriage the couple lived in Racine,MN where they began their family and lived for a number of years. Connie was employed as a medical secretary at Mayo Clinic Rochester for 48 years until her retirement in 2021. Terry was a longtime pipeline welder/fitter with various contractors. Connie and Terry moved to Grand Meadow,MN in  2017.                                             

Connie was a lifelong member of Bear Creek Lutheran Church  where she began playing organ at the age of 15 and taught Sunday School. She was a Mary Kay consultant for close to 30 years. She enjoyed gardening and knitting and taught Community Education knitting in Stewartville for a number of years. Connie loved being outdoors and going for 4 wheeler rides with Terry in their woods. She enjoyed  time spent with friends and family, especially loved following her children and grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

Connie is survived by her husband of 50 years - Terry and 1 daughter and 2 sons  – Andrew (Elin) of Spring Valley,MN; Mary (Richard) Moulding of Johnson Creek,WI and Isaac(Megan) of Rochester; 7 grandchildren –  Knut Johnson, Hazel and Harriet Moulding; Nils, Everett, Ruby and August Johnson and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister – Nancy Hovda.

The memorial  service for Connie will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday (March 27, 2026) at Bear Creek Lutheran Church in rural Grand Meadow with Rev. Bob Tewes officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery. A time of visitation  will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on  Thursday( March 26, 2026)  at Bear Creek Lutheran Church and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday morning.
