Daniel J. Ware

Daniel J. Ware, 89, a lifelong Stewartville,MN resident died on Sunday (May 4, 2025) of chronic lung disease at Mayo Clinic Rochester - St. Marys Campus.

Daniel Joseph Ware was born on September 14, 1935  in   Rochester,MN  to Wayne and Anna (Hrdlicka) Ware.  He grew up in Stewartville, attended Stewartville schools, graduating from Stewartville HS in 1953. He entered the US Marines  serving  4 years.   After his discharge he moved back to Stewartville where he has continued to make his home. He lived with his parents taking care of them as they got older and loved keeping up their large yard, fruit trees and vegetable gardens. He was employed with the City of Stewartville and the Stewartville Post Office as custodian and was employed as a handyman around town for a number of years. He was a past member of St. Bernards Catholic Church in Stewartville. Dan enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards and shooting pool, collecting bicycles and celebrating the holidays especially Halloween by handing candy out to the neighborhood kids. He enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends and especially looked forward to when his sisters and their families, would come back to Stewartville to visit. 

Daniel is survived by his 2 sisters – Marie C. Bauer of Rolling Hills Estates,CA  and  Margaret P. Miller of Westminster,CO and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Wayne John Ware and brother-in-law – David Miller.                                                                            

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7:00 PM on Friday (June 6, 2025) at Griffin-Gray FH in Stewartville.  A committal service and burial with military graveside honors by the Stewartville American Legion Post 164 will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday (June 7, 2025) at St. Bernards Catholic Cemetery in Stewartville.  Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville.
