Donald "Don" Duncan Obituary

Donald  “Don”  Duncan, 93, a longtime Stewartville,MN area farmer died on Thursday (October 2, 2025) of natural causes at Shorewood Senior Campus in Rochester,MN.

Donald Delbert Duncan was born on September 1, 1932 in Millville, MN  to Clyde and  Christina (Lubinski) Duncan. He grew up on the farm in rural Millville and attended country school. Donald was married on October 16, 1951, in California to Bernadine Carol Wegner.  In 1968, the Duncan family moved to rural Stewartville, where they farmed, raised their family, and made their home for many years. Don was a 47 yr. member of the 49ers (IUOE) International Union of  Engineers in Rochester and was employed with Fraser Construction in Rochester as a heavy equipment operator for most of those years.                                      

Don was a longtime member of the Methodist Church in Stewartville. After retiring, Don and Bert went south in the winter to Mission,TX where they enjoyed spending time with friends. Don was a boxer as a young man, training in gyms in Rochester and competed in Golden Gloves tournanments. He was  an excellent mechanic and welder and built tractors that competed in area  tractor pulls. He built one of their homes while living in Potsdam. He loved time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Don’s Family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to the Shorewood Senior Campus, Seasons Hospice and Comfort Health personnel for their compassionate care of our father.

Don is survived 3 daughters and 1 son - Donna Pepper of Byron, MN; Dwight “Ike” (Leslie) of Racine, MN; Tracy (Dan) Regenscheid of Lake City, MN and Lisa (Mike) Stock of La Crosse, WI; Grandchildren Tessa (Jim) Olive, Yonna (Erik) Ferguson, Nate (Beth) Hall, Dana (Brandon) Ingram, Bradee Brundridge, Hailee (Zach) Eggers and great-grandchildren Dylan, Rylie, Tayden, Brayden, Marlee, Jade, Brooklyn, Carson, Gracie and Aubrey; his brother – Robert Duncan of Lake City,MN and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife – Bernadine in 2024,  son – Donald “Sonny” Duncan Jr., daughter Susan Duncan, son-in-law – Warren Pepper, his parents, and 1 brother and 2 sisters and an infant sister and infant brother.                                                                                

The funeral service for Donald will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday (October 9, 2025) at the Stewartville Methodist Church with Rev. Laura Nordstrom officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Thursday afternoon. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville.  Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville. Condolences and memories of Don are welcome at www.griffin-gray.com
