Donna J. Vandenberg

Donna J. Vandenberg, 84, of Stewartville MN resident, passed away on Thursday (August 21, 2025), of natural causes, at the Stewartville Care Center, where she had been a resident for 5 years. A Celebration of Life for Donna will be held Sunday (September 21, 2025) from 1:00 - 4:00 at the American Legion in Stewartville, MN. 

Donna Jean Vandenberg was born December 8, 1940 in Gary, SD to Carl and Erna Hundertmark. She grew up in Gary, SD and attended school there. After graduation Donna worked for the Campbell Soup Company in Worthington, MN. Donna was married in 1969 in Sioux Falls SD, to Jerry Vandenberg. The couple lived in St. Louis Park, MN. Donna was employed as a nurse's assistant at a local nursing home beginning a long career in geriatric care. Mr. Vandenberg died in 1985. Donna moved to Rochester continuing her career as a CNA until her retirement. She moved to Stewartville in 2018, where she continued to make her home. Donna was an animal lover, especially cats and dogs. Her last pet cat was Calvin, who she adored. She enjoyed doing puzzles, collecting stuffed animals, playing bingo and going shopping with her niece Sandy. She liked people and loved to visit. While living at the Stewartvilla Apts and Stewartville Care Center she took the time to get to know the other residents and staff.

Donna is survived by 1 son – Tim(Linda) Vandenberg, 2 step sons Richard Vandenberg and Greg Vandenberg of SD. 1 granddaughter - Maggie –4 step grandsons- Patrick, Jake, Jordan and  Paxton all of Stewartville; her sister – Ruth Kazemba of Waterville, MN and her brother – Jim Hundertmark of Stewartville; many nieces  and nephews and her special niece Sandy Kinniry of  Waterville, MN who cared for her for the past 8 years and two infant sons Donna had as a young woman who were then adopted by other families – Calvin Hanson and Kevin Waltner both of South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband – Jerry, her parents, sister – Carol DeBoer, sister-in-law – Patricia Hundertmark, brother in-law-Clinton Kazemba and an infant sister – Marlene Hundertmark.                        .
