Dorinda Tangen Leutink Obituary

Dorinda Tangen Leutink, 73, of rural Hayfield, MN died on Tuesday (October 7, 2025) from complications of heart failure at Mayo Clinic Rochester – St. Mary’s Campus. 

Dorinda Jean Tangen was born July 12, 1952 in Cresco,IA to Orvin and Cora(Moen) Tangen. She grew up on the family farm in rural Ostrander, MN, attended country school and graduated from Leroy-Ostrander HS in 1970. Dorinda was married on July 18, 1970 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander to Larry J. Leutink. Following their marriage the couple lived in Spring Valley, the Twin Cities and Cannon Falls. During this time Dorinda began her long nursing career as a Nurse’s Assistant. They moved to Stewartville in 1979 where they built a house and lived until 1988. Dorinda was employed at Norwest Bank in Rochester for a number of years and Larry was employed as a dispatcher/account manager at Lawrence Transport in Rochester. They moved to an acreage in rural Hayfield where they have continued to make their home. Dorinda went back to college and earned her RN degree at Rochester Community College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Augsburg College in Rochester. She was employed for many years at Rochester Methodist Hospital as a bedside nurse and in the Quality Office at Mayo Systems in Rochester and 5 years as a supplemental nurse until her retirement. She was a member of the Chatter Club in Dodge County, the Uff-Da Girls in Ostrander and always looked forward to going to Francis Lake with the Cabin Girls. She enjoyed crocheting, going up north fishing with Larry, flower gardening and going to the theater with her niece, Kris. Dorinda loved time spent with her and Larry’s large families.                                                                           

Dorinda is survived by her husband of 55 years - Larry;  3 brothers – Roger Tangen of Spring Valley,MN; Jon (Diane) Tangen of Eyota,MN and Craig (Peggy) Tangen of Rochester,MN; sister-in-law – Jan Tangen of Stewartville and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents,  her sister – Dorothy and husband Gale Bundy, brother -  Richard “Dick” Tangen and sister-in-law – Betty Tangen.

In keeping with Dorinda’s family’s wishes no services or visitation will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will take place November 8, 2025 from 1 to 4:00 PM at the Eagles Club, Rochester,MN.  A private family burial and committal service will be at Greenleafton Cemetery,  at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred  to be given to St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Arrangements are with Griffin Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
