Jeannie A. Nelson, 55, of Stewartville, MN died on Saturday (February 15, 2025) following a short illness at Mayo Clinic Rochester – St. Mary's Campus.
Jeannie Ann Rinken was born September 18, 1969 in Cresco, IA to Kenneth and Shirley (Marik) Rinken. She moved with her family as a young girl to Rochester, MN where she attended school and graduated from Mayo HS in 1987. She began attending nursing school at RCTC and graduated as a Registered Nurse from Riverland Technical College in Austin, MN. She was first employed at the Rochester Methodist Hospital. Jeannie was married on July 18, 1998 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester to Brett D. Nelson. Following their marriage the couple lived in Rochester for a few years before moving to Stewartville where they raised their family and have continued to make their home. Jeannie was employed with Mayo Clinic for many years at St. Mary's Hospital. She recently was employed as a home health care nurse with Global Home Health Care in Rochester. Brett has been a partner with his brothers for many years with KBR Commercial, a real estate investment company. Jeannie was a past member of St. Francis and St. Bernard Catholic churches. She was a kind and selfless person. She cared greatly for her family and enjoyed being the neighborhood nurse. She was an avid fan of flowers and greenery throughout her home, a trait she inherited from her mom. She loved going on family vacations and time spent with her loving family.
Jeannie is survived by her husband – Brett and 2 daughters and 2 sons - Jamie Nelson (Molly) and grandchildren - Clayton and Karlee of Preston, MN; Mariah Nelson of Stewartville; Jenna Nelson (Joe Klavetter) and Bennett Nelson both of Chatfield, MN; her parents – Kenneth and Shirley Rinken of Rochester; 2 sisters and 1 brother – Terri (Richard) Stephenson of Rochester; John Rinken and Tricia Rinken both of Rochester; Mother-in-law – Jean Nelson of rural Stewartville; 2 sisters-in-law and 3 brothers-in-law – Dawn Nelson and Cheryl Dirksmeyer both of Rochester; Randy (Nancy) Nelson of Dana Point, CA; Kim (Michelle) Nelson of Stewartville and Barry Nelson (Julie Byrnes) of Cresco, IA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father-in-law, Roland Nelson and nephew, Jason Himmer.
A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 1 to 4:00 PM on Sunday (February 23, 2025) at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville.
