Jeremiah "Jerry" Patrick Chase, 83, of Tucson, AZ, a former resident of Fugle’s Mill, Stewartville, MN passed away on Saturday (January 27, 2024) of natural causes, surrounded by his loving wife Jean (Hwa Ja Jin) and family, at his home in Tucson, AZ.
Jerry was born on December 9, 1940, in Rochester, MN to Joseph and Hazel (Warren) Chase. He grew up on the family historic site, Fugle’s Mill, in Pleasant Grove Township, attended St. Frances Elementary School, and graduated from Lourdes HS in Rochester, MN in 1958. Soon after, he enlisted into the US Army and served as a Signal and Intelligence NCO which included overseas tours in the Eastern and Western Hemisphere including Korea and Viet Nam. Jerry married the love of his life on January 16, 1963, in Seoul Korea. Shortly after, the couple was transferred and stationed in France and Italy. After 5-years of military service, Jerry was honorably discharged and moved his family back to Fugle’s Mill where they lived and raised their children for many years. Jerry and Jean took over as proprietors of the Chase Antique Shows which toured throughout the Midwest and Jerry worked in many industries and was the owner of many businesses in Minnesota.
The Chase Family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1986 where Jerry managed several businesses and owned and operated AA Automatic Transmission and AA Auto Parts until his retirement. Jean was employed with the University of Arizona as a Student Union Restaurant Supervisor for 20 years until her retirement. They were members of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Tucson. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting post cards, followed the Arizona Diamondbacks and loved time spent with family especially his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean; 1 daughter and 4 sons - Joseph (Kathy) of Fugle’s Mill; Daniel (Connie) of Stewartville; Mark of Tucson; Lourie (James) Goodall of Tucson and Curtis (Michelle) of Tucson; 17 grandchildren: Elsa, Alice, Sylvia, Vivian, Jessie (Sam), Jackie (TJ), Maggie (Tim), Sammie (Wynn), Jessica, Madison, Jordyn, Jesse (Amanda), Courtney, Jeremiah, David, Curtis, and Olivia. 9 great-grandchildren: Grace, Claire, Kate, Addie, Millie, Sara, Maya, Leo, and Emilia. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Hazel Chase and his sister Elizabeth (Gerald) Golberg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday (February 24, 2024) at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Simpson, MN with Father Kevin Connolly officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. A time of visitation will take place prior to the Mass from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday morning.
