Larry J. Leutink Obituary

Larry J. Leutink, 75, of rural Hayfield, MN died on Tuesday (February 17, 2026) from complications of apparent heart failure at his home. 

Larry James Leutink was born on July 27, 1950, in Fountain, MN to Leonard and Helen (House) Leutink. He grew up on the family farm in rural Forestville, MN, and attended country school through third grade. He attended Wykoff Public Schools, graduating from Wykoff HS in 1968.  Larry married on July 18, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander, MN to Dorinda Jean Tangen. Following their marriage the couple lived in Spring Valley, the Twin Cities, Cannon Falls and Grand Meadow, MN. During this time Larry was employed at various jobs. In 1977 he started working for International Transport as Dispatcher/ Account manager.  The couple moved to Stewartville in 1979 where they built a house and lived until 1988. When IT was sold Larry then worked for other trucking companies. After 35 years working in the trucking industry, Larry retired from Lawrence Transport in Rochester. In 1988 the couple moved to an acreage in rural Hayfield where they continued to make their home. Larry was Treasurer for Vernon Township for many years up to his death. Larry was a very talented handyman and enjoyed projects at home and helping family and friends. In his younger years he enjoyed playing guitar, singing and riding horses. Later years he enjoyed golfing, hunting and going up north fishing with Dorinda. Larry loved time spent with his and Dorinda’s large families.                                                                       

Larry is survived by 2 sisters – Janet(Allen) Bly of Sandy, OR and JoAnn(Gary) Hamlin of Rochester; 1 sister-in-law – Jan Tangen of Stewartville; 3 brothers-in-law – Roger Tangen of Spring Valley, MN; Jon(Diane) Tangen of Eyota, MN and Craig(Peggy) Tangen of Rochester and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorinda on October 7, 2025, his parents, 1 brother Leonard Jr., a niece – Lynette Leutink, 2 sisters-in-law – Dorothy Bundy and Betty Tangen and 2 brothers -in-law - Richard “Dick’’ Tangen and Gail Bundy.      

In keeping with Larry's family’s wishes no services or visitation will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday (March 29, 2026) from 1 to 4:00 PM at the Eagles Club in Rochester/ 917 15th Ave SE / Rochester.  A private family burial and committal service will be at Greenleafton Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to be given to St. Judes Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are with Griffin Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
