Margery M. Henselin was called to her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at her home in Rochester, MN.
Margery Marie Hess was born to Thomas and Ella (Klingerman) Hess at rural Spring Valley, MN, on July 6, 1928. She was baptized into the Christian faith as an infant and confirmed June 13, 1943, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Stewartville, MN. Margery attended rural schools near Chatfield and Stewartville, and graduated from Stewartville HS in 1946. She graduated from the Minneapolis School of Beauty Culture, also called “Roger’s & Benners” and was employed at “Irene’s Beauty Shoppe” in Stewartville for a few years. Margery was married on September 24, 1952, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Stewartville to Gustav Henselin. The couple lived in rural Stewartville where they began farming , raised their family and lived for 40 years. Margery was a farmwife and homemaker and Gustav was a lifelong farmer. In 1992 the Henselins bought a home in Rochester following their retirement. Mr. Henselin died on January 15, 2010.
Margery was a past member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stewartville where she taught Sunday School and a longtime member of Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rochester where she taught Sunday school and participated in Bible Studies and other activities. Margery enjoyed family coming home, having extended family and friends come to visit, playing “500”, and baking and cooking. She enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and loved time spent with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her five children and spouses: Dr. Jane (John) Murray, Rev. Philip (Susan) Henselin, Rebecca (Randy) Tomfohrde, Marilyn (Roger) Tomfohrde, and Mark (Lois) Henselin;
Grandchildren: Jonathan Murray, Elliot Murray, Karl (Hannah) Henselin, Aaron Henselin (Abigail Knapp), Daniel (Emily) Henselin, Katherine (Casey) Musser, Rachel (Evan) Burkart, Paul Tomfohrde, Angela (Richard) Anderson, Matthew (Tanya) Tomfohrde, Stephanie Dickinson, Alicia (Chad) Moyer, Dr. Carmen Tomfohrde, Peter (Julie) Tomfohrde, Eric Tomfohrde, Patrick Foss, Sean Foss, Lauren (Kyle) Schultz, Erick Foss, Vanessa (Brandyn) Milke and Anna (Raymond) Tedesco;
Great-grandchildren: Isaiah and Zachary Henselin, Evelyn and Henry Henselin, Myla and Rhett Musser, William and Lillian Anderson, Kaylee, Aaron and Nathan Tomfohrde, Audrey Dickinson, Josephine, Katrina, and Leland Moyer, Arietta, Linnéa, and Dominic Tomfohrde, Elizabeth and Freya Foss, Mackenzie and Kaleb Schultz, Aurora Milke; her sister-in-law Beneda Hess, as well as many nieces and nephews. Margery is predeceased by Gustav, her husband of 57 ½ years, grandson-in-law Jeffrey Knopf (father of William and Lillian Anderson), great grandchildren Ava Musser, Joel, Lena, and Merci Henselin, her parents, siblings, Betty (Gary) Schumann, Doris (Wilfred) Henselin, Warren (JoMae) Hess, Gene Hess, Janice (Harold) Kuhlman.
The funeral service for Margery will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday , Nov. 24, 2024 at Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rochester with Rev. Brian Kom officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and 1 hr. prior at Ascension Ev Lutheran Church, (2207 11th Ave SE, Rochester, MN).
