Marilu Mullenbach Obituary

The Mass of Christian Burial for Marilu Mullenbach ,83, a longtime Stewartville, MN resident will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday (January 27, 2026) with Rev. Kevin Connolly officiating. Burial  will follow at the church cemetery. Marilu died on Thursday (January 15, 2022) of natural causes, at New Perspective Assisted Living in Prior Lake, MN where she had resided since 2020.

Mary Louise Prehatney was born August 8, 1942 in Minneapolis,MN  to John and Celeste(Kiefer) Prehatney. She moved with her family to Austin,MN attending school there, graduating from Austin Pacelli H.S. in 1960. She was employed at Thorpe Financial in Rochester for a few years. Marilu married on September 19, 1964 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Austin, MN to Melvin G. Mullenbach. Following their marriage the couple lived in Rochester and Stewartville before moving to rural Racine where they raised their family and lived for many years. Marilu was a stay at home Mom  with their five children. Mel was a longtime employee at IBM in Rochester until his retirement. Marilu and Mel moved to Prior Lake,MN to live near their children in 2020.  Mr. Mullenbach died on January 8, 2022. Marilu was a longtime member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and the Stewartville American Legion Post 164 Auxillary. Marilu enjoyed golf, downhill skiing, gardening and canning, and followed the Twins and Vikes. Marilu enjoyed  visiting with friends and time spent with her large family and especially enjoyed following her children, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s school and sporting activities.                                                               

Marilu is survived by 1 daughter and 4 sons – Monica Gay of North Branch,MN; Matthew Mullenbach of Victor,ID; Mitchell(Linda) Mullenbach of Apache Junction,AZ; Martin(Julie) Mullenbach of Grand Forks,ND and Marshall(Tracy) Mullenbach of Prior Lake,MN; 8 grandchidren - Sam Gay, Amanda(Blake) Innes, Joe Gay, Alyssa Mullenbach and great grand-daughter- Reyna, Allanah Mullenbach, Matthew Mullenbach Jr., Manni Mullenbach and Myah Mullenbach; 1 sister –  Barb(Hugh) Duren of Arlington Heights,IL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.                                                                                                                       

A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 9:30 AM   to 11:00 Am on Tuesday (January 27, 2026) at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Stewartville. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray FH in Stewartville. Condolences and memories of Marilu are welcome at www.griffin-gray.com
