Peggy J. Knutson

Peggy J. Knutson, 86,  a longtime Stewartville,MN. resident died on Monday (August  18, 2025 ) following a lengthy illness at Mayo Clinic – Rochester – Methodist Campus.

Peggy Jeannette Rose was born on January 12, 1939 to Ivan and Thelma(Whorley) Rose in Welch, WV, where she was raised and graduated from Welch H.S. in 1956.  She was employed with American Airlines in Chicago where she met Roger who was employed at United Airlines. Peggy was married on August 30, 1957 in Calmar,IA to Roger Hubert Knutson. Following their marriage the couple lived in Chicago, Iowa and Rochester before moving to Stewartville in 1965, where they raised their family. Peggy and Roger moved to Cannon Falls,MN in 1989 .  Peggy was a homemaker and enjoyed working outside the home. She worked in Stewartville at the Flame Restaurant, the Used-A-Bit Shop and Boyum Foods and after they moved to Cannon Falls she was employed for 14 years at Midwest of Cannon Falls Inc. They moved back to Stewartville in 2012. Mr. Knutson died July 8, 2013.

Peggy was a longtime active member at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville and was a member of  St. Ansgars Lutheran Church while living in Cannon Falls. Peggy volunteered her time teaching Bible school and with the Stewartville  Senior Center helping to serve meals. She was a co-founder, with Roger, of the Stewartville Wrestling Boosters Club in the early 1970’s. Peggy enjoyed reading, watching movies and knitting in her spare time. She also enjoyed trips to Virginia with Roger and going to the NCAA wrestling tournament every spring. She loved  time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by 1 daughter and 2 sons – Roger(Kristi) Knutson of Dorchester,IA; Craig(Mary) Knutson of Stewartville and Denise(Mike) Udenberg of Stewartville; 7 grandchildren – Carly (Jordan) Thein, Mike(Emily) Knutson, Kate(Marcus)Kuisle, Matt Knutson(Stephanie Spaid), Samantha(Chuck) Kraemer , Hannah LeBarron  and Jacob LeBarron;  13 great-grandchildren – Hailee, Jackson, Aubree, Josie, Eloise, Owen, Brayden, Makayla, Mallory, Lillian, Sawyer, Hadley and Bryson; 1 brother – Russell (Penny) Wilson of Bedford,VA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband – Roger , her parents, and infant sister.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday (August 25, 2025) at  Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville with Rev. Tim Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville. A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 2  to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday( August 24, 2025) at Griffin-Gray FH in Stewartville and 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Monday morning.  Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville. www.griffin-gray.com.
