Robert "Bob" Nord

Robert “Bob” Nord, 71, of Ostrander,MN, formerly of High Forest,MN died on Friday (July 25, 2025) from complications of an inflammatory lung disorder at Mayo Clinic Rochester – St. Marys Campus.

Robert Arthur Nord was born on February 17, 1954 in  San Gabriel,CA  to Robert and Lorna(Gregory) Nord. He moved with his family as a young boy to High Forest,MN where he grew up and attended Stewartville schools, graduating from Stewartville HS in 1972. He worked for area cement contractors before starting Nord Construction. Bob was married on September 15, 1979 at the Little Brown Church in Nashaua,IA to Mary K. Kraetsch. The couple lived in High Forest  before moving to Racine,MN in 1991, where they continued to raise their sons. Bob was co-owner of Southside Auto and Towing in Stewartville,  beginning a lifelong career in auto sales and all things automotive. He made many trips to Arizona through the years towing vehicles back for resale. Mary was a  homemaker and was employed for many years as a nurse at Mayo Clinic – Rochester. Bob was a past member of High Forest Community Church. He was an expert mechanic and rebuilt many “rat-rods” and  had a lifelong love of  traveling and wheeling and dealing on all types of motorcycles, trucks and cars. He enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and loved time spent with his family, especially his grandsons.

Bob is survived by his 2 sons –Dustin Nord(Caitlin Callahan) of Astoria,OR and Travis Nord (Hesper Everson) of Taopi,MN; 3 grandsons – Adam Everson, Trenton Nord and Tyler Nord (Andrea Flood) and his best friend – Mary Nord of Elysian,MN; sister – Linda(Jim) Hutton; brother – Ron Nord of Chester,IA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister – Janice Nord Marshall.                                                                                

A funeral service for Bob will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday (August 1, 2025) at High Forest Community Church with Rev. Jim Barnhart officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 7:00 PM on  Thursday (July 31, 2025) at Griffin- Gray F.H. in Stewartville and 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Friday morning.
