Robert D. Gerber Obituary

Robert "Bob" Gerber, 96,  a longtime Stewartville,MN area farmer passed away on Thursday (March 26, 2026) at his home, of natural causes, surrounded by his loving family,  following a lengthy illness.

Robert Duane Gerber was born on March 18, 1930 in Rochester, MN to Otto and Myrtle(Kiefer) Gerber. He grew up on the family farm, attended country school and Stewartville schools, graduating from Stewartville HS in 1948. He began farming prior to his enlistment into the United States Air Force, proudly serving for 8 years during the Korean War. After his discharge, he came home and spent his life farming, a life he truly valued and took great pride in. Robert was married on December 28, 1963 in Rochester,MN to Gloria Ann Schleusner. The couple made their home in High Forest Twsp on their Farm, where they raised their family and lived all 54 years of their married lives. Mrs. Gerber died August 14, 2018.

Robert was a past member of First Baptist Church and now Autumn Ridge Church in Rochester. Robert was a devoted husband, a loving dad, and a very proud grandpa. His family meant everything to him. We will remember him for his strength, his hard work, his faith in Jesus and the love he had for his family and his country. He occasionally would go fishing when not farming and enjoyed driving in the countryside or into town to visit with friends and neighbors. He loved time spent with family , especially his grandchildren.  He will be deeply missed.

We are especially grateful to his caregivers, Cheyenne, Isabel, Vicki and Kerri, for the kindness and care they showed him.

Robert is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son – Boyd Gerber of rural Stewartville; Natalie(Jason) Faas Gerber of Zumbro Falls,MN and Carleen Gerber of Rochester; his grandchildren - Ashlynn Faas (Tom Erickson), Marshell Faas, and Nicole Gerber; sister - Patty(Gary) Stensrud of Stewartville and brother - Paul(Ruth) Gerber of rural Stewartville and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife - Gloria, his parents and brother - Larry.
