Rosalyn "Rosie" Toogood Obituary

Rosalyn “Rosie” Toogood, 78, a longtime Stewartville, MN resident went home to be with the Lord on Saturday (May 4, 2024) at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, MN after a battle with endometrial cancer.

Rosalyn Mae Schaefer was born on August 28, 1945 in Rochester, MN to Harold and Barbara (Messer) Schaefer. She graduated from Lourdes High School in 1963. Rosie attended Rochester Community College and graduated from the secretarial program. She worked at IBM for 5 years. Rosie was married on January 19, 1968 in Rochester, MN to Paul H. Toogood. Following their marriage the couple lived in Stewartville where they raised their daughters and continued to make their home. Rosie was employed as a para-professional at Bonner Elementary in Stewartville for 32 years until her retirement in 2010. Rosie had a strong faith and was a founding member of the Stewartville Christian Church where she served as the church secretary for over 40 years. She enjoyed gardening and nature, watching sports and teaching youth Sunday school. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and her grandchildren.

Rosie is survived by 2 daughters - Kristy (Zane) Zodrow of Rochester and grandchildren – Zak, Zeke and Zoey and Paula (Andy) Berry of Austin, TX and grandchildren – Melia and Cayman; 3 sisters and 4 brothers Terry (Mary Ann) Schaefer of Rochester, MN; Bruce (Sandy) Schaefer of Sunrise Beach, MO; Mary Hoover, Mike (Cindy) Schaefer, Pat Heck, Cindy (Steve) Shones all of Rochester and  Tom (Lynn) Schaefer of Byron, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband – Paul in October 2021.

A Celebration of Life Open House for Rosie will take place from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday (May 18, 2024) at the Stewartville Christian Church.
