Sandra M. Morris

Sandra M. Morris, 80, of LaCrosse,WI formerly a rural Kasson,MN resident, passed away on Thursday (October 23, 2025) following a short illness with cancer, at Bethany St. Joseph’s Care Center in LaCrosse,WI.

Sandra Mae Thoen was born May 19, 1945 in Lanesboro,MN to Amos and Amy (Hilden) Thoen. She grew up in Lanesboro, where she attended school, graduating from Lanesboro HS in 1963. She was employed for a few years as a clerical worker at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Sandra was married on April 23, 1966 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro to Richard  K. Morris. The couple lived in Kasson before moving to rural Kasson where they built a home, raised their 2 sons and lived for many years. Sandy was a homemaker  and after the boys graduated was a daycare provider from their home until her retirement. Richard had a long career as a welder primarily with Hi-Mec Co. in Rochester and was a longtime member of Sheetmetal Workers Local 10 in Rochester, until his retirement. Sandy and Richard moved to Holmen,Wi  in 2017 to live closer to their sons. Sandra was a past active member of West St. Olaf Lutheran Church in rural Hayfield and was currently a member of South Zumbro Lutheran Church in rural Kasson. Sandy enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing and gardening. She loved time  spent with her family. 

Sandy is survived by her husband of 59 years – Richard and 2 sons – Scott (Christa) Morris of Brice Prairie,WI and Corey Morris of Onalaska,WI; a brother Richard (Lisa) Thoen of Harmony,MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister – Helen Benson and brother – Merlin Thoen.

A private family burial and committal service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday (November 15, 2025) at West St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hayfield,Mn. A time of fellowship for family and friends with a light lunch being served will be held at 12:00 P.M at South Zumbro Lutheran Church in rural Kasson,Mn.
