Steven Van Such, 76, of Rochester, died Friday, November 28, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Rochester – St. Marys Campus with family by his side.
Steven Van Such was born on June 15, 1949 in Poland, Ohio, to John and Ann Van Such. He grew up in Poland where he attended school, and graduated from Poland Seminary HS in 1967. After high school, he attended Youngstown State University. Steven was married on Oct. 6, 1973, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Youngstown to Monica Bozick.
Following their marriage, the couple lived in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana before moving to Minnesota, where they have continued to make their home. Steven was employed with Sears Holding Co. and was general manager with K-Mart in Winona at the time of his retirement. Monica was a longtime employee at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Steven was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Stewartville. He enjoyed traveling and loved time spent with family, especially his grandchildren. He rarely missed one of his grandson’s sporting events.
Steven is survived by his daughter - Stephanie (Chris) Matejka, and grandchildren, Mathew and Jackson, all of Rochester; a sister, Susan (Rick) Trope of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Stewartville. Burial will take place at St. Bernard's Cemetery. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home. Condolences and memories of Steven are welcome at www.griffin-gray.com.
