Timothy M. Carr, 78, of Stewartville,MN died on Thursday (January 9, 2025) unexpectedly, of an apparent heart attack Mayo Clinic Rochester - St. Marys Hospital.
Timothy Michael Carr was born October 23, 1946 in Rochester,MN to William and Dolorose(Hendry) Carr. He grew up in Stewartville, attended school there, graduating from Stewartville HS in 1965. He enlisted into the US Navy training as a jet engine mechanic serving 4 years. Following his discharge he began a long career with the Federal Aviation Agency as an environmental technician and served with the Air Force Reserves. Timothy was married on August 24, 1972 at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Grove Port,OH to Betty I. Richardson. Following their marriage they lived in Ohio for a short time before moving to Minneapolis,Mn and then Farmington,Mn where they raised their family and lived for many years. They moved to Stewartville in 2022. Tim was an expert ultra-light aircraft engine mechanic/repair and air frame tuner and ran his own shop in various locations while being employed with the FAA. Besides being an environment tech, he became a main trainer/ troubleshooter for new employees with FAA until his retirement in 2001. Betty was a homemaker, the owner/operator of her own drapery business and bookkeeper for her husband and other family businesses.
Tim was a born again Christian whose strong faith called him to help others struggling with addiction. He held meetings both in his church and at his home to help others. He grew up racing including go-karts, mini-bikes, motorcycles and with his son Michael – drag-racing. He began flying ultra-lights in 2005 and continued for a number of years, experiencing a few close calls in the process. He liked to visit with friends and neighbors and loved time spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren.
Tim is survived by his wife of 52 years – Betty and 2 daughters and 1 son – Bethany(Chad) Thompson of Stewartville; Michael(Denise) Carr of Medford,MN and Theresa(John) Gage of Lakeville,MN; 10 grandchildren – Lauren Gage, Michael Carr Jr., Gavin Gage, Danica Carr, Rylee Gerber, Hunter Gage, Alayna Carr, Anna Carr, Reagan Gerber and Theodore Carr; 2 sisters and 4 brothers – Bill Carr of Stewartville; Terry(Dawn) Carr of Rosemount,MN; Kevin(Janice) Carr of Zumbrota,MN; Maureen(Craig) Idecker of Sundberg,MN; Debbie Daciw of Thunder Bay,Ontario, Canada and Benno Carr of Stewartville and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday(January 14, 2025) at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Stewartville with Rev. Marcus Quam officiating. Burial with military graveside honors by Stewartville American Legion Post # 163 will take place at Union Cemetery in Pleasant Grove,MN. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place 1 hr. prior to the service on Tuesday morning. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville,MN.
